Norwegian continues low-cost ascent
Norwegian carried more than 1.9 million passengers in September, an increase of 17 per cent compared to the same month previous year. The company is growing and increasing its capacity by taking delivery of brand new aircraft, establishing new operational bases outside Scandinavia and introducing new routes within Europe and between Scandinavia and the US and Asia.
Norwegian sees continued growth in passenger numbers
Low-cost airline Norwegian has seen passenger growth continued in August. Over 1.9 million passengers flew with the airline, up 14 per cent when compared with the same month last year.
New transatlantic routes from low-cost Norwegian
Low-cost carrier Norwegian has confirmed it will launch new routes between Scandinavia and Los Angeles, Oakland-San Francisco and Orlando in spring 2014. Norwegian will operate the 787 Dreamliner on the routes.
Norwegian reports record passenger numbers
Norwegian has continued to report new passenger records, with the July passenger figures the highest in the company’s history. For the first time more than two million customers flew with the airline in a single month.
Norwegian more than doubles 2Q profit
Norwegian (NAS) today reported a second quarter 2013 pre-tax profit of 277 MNOK, an improvement of 152 MNOK from the same quarter last year. The second quarter is characterised by a strong unit cost reduction, solid production growth and a higher load factor. The unit cost reduction of 9 percent was achieved despite start-up costs for Norwegian’s long-haul operation and the establishment of new bases in Europe. The cost reduction is essential to strengthen the company’s competitiveness.

Norwegian’s passenger growth continued in June, with over 1.9 million passengers flying with the carrier in June – an increase of 21 per cent when compared with the same month last year. The company also continues to grow and increase its capacity in new markets.
Norwegian introduces Android powered in-flight system to Dreamliner
Norwegian and Panasonic Avionics Corporation have joined forces to develop the first ever Android powered in-flight entertainment system. Norwegian’s passengers will be able to use select Android apps that are pre-loaded onto the system, providing an in-flight experience similar to the on-the-ground experience travellers have become accustomed to with their personal devices.
Norwegian welcomes Dreamliner to Oslo
Norwegian’s first 787 Dreamliner has touched down at Oslo Airport Gardermoen ahead of launch into service. “It’s fantastic that we have taken delivery of our very first Dreamliner and that it can finally enter into service,” said Norwegian chief executive Bjørn Kjos.
Norwegian to bring 787 Dreamliner to European routes
Norwegian has confirmed it will operate its brand new Boeing 787 Dreamliner on several European routes this summer, including the popular London-Oslo route. Norwegian’s passengers will also have the opportunity to experience the state-of-the-art 787 Dreamliner on selected routes from Oslo to Alicante, Malaga, Nice and Barcelona.
Norwegian launches long-haul New York service
Norwegian’s first long-haul flight took off from Oslo Airport Gardermoen earlier, bound for New York’s JKF airport. “The launch of our intercontinental routes is an important milestone in Norwegian’s history. Our goal is that even more passengers should afford to fly – also to other continents,” said Norwegian chief executive Bjørn Kjos.
