Minor Hotel Group signs Anantara Ubud Bali Resort for 2019 opening
Minor Hotel Group has continued expansion in south-east Asia with the development of Anantara Ubud Bali Resort. MHG has formed a 50/50 joint venture with Indonesia-based PT Wijaya Karya Realty on this US$41.4 million development.
Minor Hotel Group completes €300m Tivoli acquisition
Minor Hotel Group has completed the final stage of its acquisition of Tivoli Hotels & Resorts, a well-known Portugal-based brand with 14 properties across Portugal and Brazil. The acquisition of Tivoli Hotels & Resorts, which totals €294.2 million, not only marks MHG’s strategic entry into Europe and Latin America, but also provides the group with a strong operating platform to drive further growth in those markets.
Minor Hotels takes Oaks brand into India with Neemrana property
Minor Hotel Group has announced the first Oaks property in India with the development of Oaks Neemrana, in partnership with India-based NSP Associates. Neemrana is a fast developing business hub located southwest of New Delhi, on the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor, a mega infrastructure project worth US $90 billion, approximately 90 kilometres from Gurgaon and 140 kilometres from Jaipur.
Minor Hotels reveals Malaysia expansion plans
Minor Hotel Group has revealed additional details of its joint venture with Malaysian partner, Themed Attractions Resorts & Hotels, to develop an Anantara resort in Desaru Coast in south-east Malaysia. Scheduled to open in 2018, the new-build Anantara Desaru Resort & Villas will be located in the heart of the new beachfront development in Desaru Coast and will have 123 keys comprising a 103-room resort with deluxe guest rooms and villas and 20 three- and four-bedroom Villas.
Minor unveils plans for AVANI Deira Dubai Hotel
Minor Hotel Group has signed a strategic partnership with Nakheel to co-invest and develop a 500-key AVANI hotel in Dubai, to open in 2018. AVANI Deira Dubai Hotel will be located in Deira Islands, a unique waterfront entertainment, tourist and residential destination being developed in alignment with Dubai Vision 2020.
Minor Hotel Group opens Africa office in Johannesburg
Minor Hotel Group has launched a regional office in Johannesburg to represent its southern Africa portfolio. An owner, investor and operator originating in Thailand, the group now has a portfolio of 134 hotels and resorts with 17,000 keys in 22 countries across Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Europe, South America, Africa and the Indian Ocean, and is consolidating its growing presence in Africa.
Barguil takes up leadership role with AVANI Seychelles

With almost 20 years’ experience in high end hotels and resorts across the globe, Barguil joins AVANI Seychelles this month and will guide the team in the resort’s first lead up to high season and beyond.

Per Aquum had appointed of Duarte Correia as general manager of Essque Zalu Zanzibar, Tanzania. A rising star in the hospitality management world, Portuguese-born Correia honed his skills in some of the world’s leading luxury boutique hotels in the UK and Vietnam before leveraging his talents to become the youngest hotel general manager in Mauritius, and most recently, a consultant in Zanzibar.

Minor Hotel Group continues strategic expansion in Africa
Minor Hotel Group has added six camps in Kenya to its growing global portfolio. This is the result of two of East Africa’s most prestigious property portfolios merging, following the acquisition of Cheli & Peacock Group of Companies by the Elewana Collection. The acquisition sees the six Cheli & Peacock properties - namely, Elsa’s Kopje, Elephant Pepper Camp, Joy’s Camp, Tortillis Camp, Kitich Camp and Lewa Safari Camp - merge under the banner of the Elewana Collection to form a comprehensive circuit of 14 properties spanning the highlights of Northern Tanzania, Kenya and Zanzibar.
Minor Hotels to grow Avani brand in Australia with Perth properties
Minor Hotel Group has announced the planned expansion of its presence in Australia with the launch of two new properties in Perth, Avani Hotel and Avani Residences. The announcement marks the Avani brand’s entry into the Australian market with an investment of more than AUD $110 million.
