AVANI Riverside Bangkok Hotel has opened its doors as the first purpose-designed AVANI property, bringing the upscale brand’s contemporary style and modern hospitality to Bangkok’s Chao Phraya riverside. Minor Hotels will take over the operation of the 216-room Mövenpick Hotel Deira in Dubai on July 1st. The property will operate under the group’s dynamic AVANI Hotels & Resorts brand as the AVANI Deira Dubai Hotel. This represents a milestone for Minor Hotels as the first AVANI hotel in the Middle East.
Minor Hotel Group will development Oaks Bodhgaya in India in partnership with GP Group and Top Travel & Tours. The overall project investment is US$6.7 million. Located in the state of Bihar in the country’s north east, Bodhgaya is a key religious site and place of pilgrimage and is thought of as the epicentre of Buddhism.
Minor Hotel Group has announced the addition of two new properties to its pipeline in the United Arab Emirates. Anantara Jebel Dhanna and AVANI Jebel Dhanna in Abu Dhabi will soon begin development and both are scheduled to open in 2018. The developer of these two new properties is Dhabi Contracting LLC and Aecom has been appointed as the lead architecture and interior design consultant for the project.
Minor Hotel Group has reported a 38 per cent year-on-year increase in net profit for 2015. The increase is largely attributable to the improved performance of Oaks Hotels & Resorts, a strong increase in real estate income and revaluation gains of Baht670 million from business acquisitions relating to the Sun International and Oaks Elan Darwin transactions.
Minor Hotel Group has continued expansion in south-east Asia with the development of Anantara Ubud Bali Resort. MHG has formed a 50/50 joint venture with Indonesia-based PT Wijaya Karya Realty on this US$41.4 million development.

Minor Hotel Group has announced the first Oaks property in India with the development of Oaks Neemrana, in partnership with India-based NSP Associates. Neemrana is a fast developing business hub located southwest of New Delhi, on the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor, a mega infrastructure project worth US $90 billion, approximately 90 kilometres from Gurgaon and 140 kilometres from Jaipur.
Minor Hotel Group has revealed additional details of its joint venture with Malaysian partner, Themed Attractions Resorts & Hotels, to develop an Anantara resort in Desaru Coast in south-east Malaysia. Scheduled to open in 2018, the new-build Anantara Desaru Resort & Villas will be located in the heart of the new beachfront development in Desaru Coast and will have 123 keys comprising a 103-room resort with deluxe guest rooms and villas and 20 three- and four-bedroom Villas.
Minor Hotel Group has signed a strategic partnership with Nakheel to co-invest and develop a 500-key AVANI hotel in Dubai, to open in 2018. AVANI Deira Dubai Hotel will be located in Deira Islands, a unique waterfront entertainment, tourist and residential destination being developed in alignment with Dubai Vision 2020.
