Marriott Downtown Abu Dhabi celebrates opening in grand style
Marriott Hotels has hosted a spectacular event to celebrate the grand opening of the Marriott Hotel and Marriott Executive Apartments Downtown Abu Dhabi. Autograph Collection unveils four Asia properties for 2017
Autograph Collection Hotels has revealed it will debut four properties in Asia next year. In 2017, the brand will open The Shanhaitian Resort Sanya in China, The Majestic Hotel and Hotel Stripes in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and RYSE hotel in Seoul, South Korea. Marriott debuts Tribute brand in Latin America
Marriott International is debuting its aspirational independent hotels and resorts brand, Tribute Portfolio, in Latin America. By December 2016, the brand will add two independent hotels to its portfolio in Argentina’s most sought-after regions. Arelauquen Lodge, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel, will be debut in Patagonia, near the world’s end, with vast landscapes of lakes and mountains, while Auberge du Vin, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel, will be located in the heart of Argentina’s wine country.

Marriott International set to return to Greece following Chandris deal
Marriott International has signed new agreement with Chandris Hotels that will mark the return of the Marriott Hotel brand to the vibrant city of Athens, following an absence of more than two years. Once the hotel completes its $15 million transformation, the Athens Marriott Hotel will debut in 2018 with 366 guestrooms and the welcoming service and world-class amenities that Marriott guests worldwide expect.
JW Marriott Hotel Chengdu takes brand into China
Global luxury hotel brand JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts is debuting JW Marriott Hotel Chengdu. The new, 345-room five-star luxury hotel is centrally located in the hub of the city’s bustling business district, adjacent to Tianfu Square. “We are proud to welcome guests to experience this historic and ever-growing community,” said JW Marriott Hotel Chengdu general manager Khan Sung.
Marriott International narrows headquarter search to Montgomery County
Marriott International has announced its intent to remain headquartered in Montgomery County, Maryland, and that its real estate search for a new corporate facility has been narrowed to the downtown Bethesda business district. Several sites in downtown Bethesda are still being considered and negotiations are on-going. A final decision on a location is expected in the first half of 2017.

Marriott opens first hotel in Rwanda
Marriott International has opened the doors of its first Marriott Hotel in Rwanda, bringing the signature brand’s welcoming service and world-class amenities to sub-Saharan Africa for the first time in its nearly 90-year history. “Rwanda is going through an economic transformation and we are proud to be a part of it,” said Marriott International president Arne Sorenson.
Marriott International reveals plans for three Cape Town properties
Marriott International has revealed plans for the construction of three new hotel properties in Cape Town, in partnership with the Amdec Group. These will be three new hotels in the city: one under the company’s signature brand, Marriott Hotels, which will be the first Marriott Hotel in Cape Town; the second under the upscale extended stay brand, Residence Inn by Marriott, the first for South Africa; and the third the upper-moderate tier lifestyle brand, AC Hotels by Marriott, which is the first hotel under this brand for the Middle East & Africa region.
