The Department of Civil Aviation in Malaysia has revoked the air operator certificate Rayani Air. The carrier, which had branded itself as the first sharia compliant airline in the world, will subsequently lose its right to fly in and out of the country.
Oakwood signs on for latest property in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Oakwood Asia Pacific has confirmed a partnership with Plenitude Berhad to open the first Oakwood-branded property in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in the second half of 2016. Signing the agreement are Elsie Chua, chairman of the board of Plenitude Berhad and Dean Schreiber, managing director of Oakwood Asia Pacific.

Minor Hotels reveals Malaysia expansion plans
Minor Hotel Group has revealed additional details of its joint venture with Malaysian partner, Themed Attractions Resorts & Hotels, to develop an Anantara resort in Desaru Coast in south-east Malaysia. Scheduled to open in 2018, the new-build Anantara Desaru Resort & Villas will be located in the heart of the new beachfront development in Desaru Coast and will have 123 keys comprising a 103-room resort with deluxe guest rooms and villas and 20 three- and four-bedroom Villas.
Malaysia partners with Etihad Airways for tourism initiative
Etihad Airways and Tourism Malaysia have signed a global partnership agreement to boost inbound tourism to Malaysia by leveraging the airline’s global passenger network. Under the agreement, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates and Tourism Malaysia will put into effect a range of joint marketing activities targeting Malaysia’s leading inbound visitor markets – the UK, US, and Europe.
Malaysian government reveals plans for new flymojo airline
Officials in Malaysia have revealed plans to launch a new airline having signed a $1.5 billion deal with aircraft manufacturer Bombardier. The deal will see Malaysia purchase 20 CS100 aircraft, with options for an additional 20, for use by the new airline, flymojo. The carrier will be based out of Johor Bahru in the south and Kota Kinabalu in east Malaysia.
The Ascott signs Citadines Medini Nusajaya in Malaysia
The Ascott has stepped up its presence in Iskandar Malaysia by securing a contract to manage its third property in Nusajaya. Slated to open in early 2019, the 214-unit Citadines Medini Nusajaya has a prime location in Nusajaya’s main business and leisure district. Ascott, the world’s largest international serviced residence owner-operator, has been awarded the contract by UMCity Medini Lakeside Development, a wholly-owned subsidiary of United Malayan Land.
