Lufthansa to base Airbus A350-900 fleet in Munich
The first ten Airbus A350-900 aircraft to join the Lufthansa fleet will be based in Munich, starting from January 2017. This will equip the German flag-carrier’s second-largest hub with the world’s most modern, long-haul passenger aircraft. The A350-900 is also one of the most environmentally friendly aircraft.
Airbus delivers first Airbus A320neo to Lufthansa
Lufthansa, together with Airbus and the Pratt & Whitney engine manufacturer, is celebrating the delivery of the world’s first Airbus A320neo. Carsten Spohr, Lufthansa chairman, Airbus president Fabrice Brégier and the president of Pratt & Whitney, Robert Leduc, invited 700 guests and media representatives to the official delivery at Hamburg-Finkenwerder.
Schütz takes over as chief information officer at Lufthansa
Effective immediately, Roland Schütz has been appointed chief information officer of all Lufthansa Group airlines. Alongside the premium hub airlines Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines and Swiss, are the flight operations of the second brand, Eurowings, which is to be developed into the third largest European carrier for point-to-point traffic.
Airbus A320neo to enter commercial service with Lufthansa
The first Lufthansa Airbus A320neo has been transferred to Frankfurt. The A320neo, with the registration D-AINA, took off with the flight number LH9922 at 13:34 local time from the Airbus factory site in Hamburg-Finkenwerder, and landed safely 40 minutes later at 14:14 at its future home airport in Frankfurt.
Airlines for Europe launches in Amsterdam
Airlines for Europe, Europe’s new airline association, has officially been launched at an EU Aviation Summit in Amsterdam. The new association has been founded by Europe’s five largest airline groups – Air France KLM, easyJet, International Airlines Group, Lufthansa Group, Ryanair – to represent the interests of its members when dealing with the EU institutions, international organisations and national governments on European aviation issues.

The Lufthansa Group, Airbus’ largest airline customer and operator, marks a major step in aviation history today by taking delivery of the first A320neo. The new plane had already become the world’s best-selling and most fuel efficient single aisle aircraft.
Lufthansa Group reaches new passenger record
The airlines of the Lufthansa Group transported 107.7 million passengers in 2015, a new record for the company. The group carried 1.6 per cent more passengers than in the previous year. At the same time the company carried out more than one million flights and achieved the highest ever seat load factor of 80.4 per cent.

Lufthansa launches three long-haul leisure destinations in a week

Lufthansa eases group booking with new portal
Travel agents and tour operators in the UK & Ireland will find it much easier to book travel groups thanks to Lufthansa’s new online tool “Book a Group”. This new portal allows the registered IATA agency to find suitable flights, request availability and prices, book with instant confirmation, and what’s more, to change and manage existing bookings.
Latest strikes called off at Lufthansa
The Independent Flight Attendant’s Organisation has agreed to call off the strikes announced for Thursday, Friday and next Monday after progress was made in talks with Lufthansa management. UFO agrees to forgo strikes until at least the December 2nd, where an employment summit will take place.
Chancellor Merkel welcomes new Lufthansa traffic control centre
German chancellor Angela Merkel has visited the Lufthansa Group in Frankfurt. The visit to the facility was occasioned by the opening of the new traffic Integrated Operations Control Centre, an exchange with apprentices, as well as the naming ceremony of an Airbus A380. Chancellor Merkel began her visit by officially opening Lufthansa’s new traffic control centre in Frankfurt.
