Lufthansa set to receive first Airbus A350-900
Lufthansa will receive its first A350-900 on December 19th, with the most modern long haul aircraft in the world due to land at the German flag-carrier’s Munich Hub. The first regular commercial flight will be from Munich to Delhi on February 10th, 2017. Tickets are available now.
Lufthansa launches Mildred chatbot on Facebook
The Lufthansa Group has launched a chatbot called Mildred, which searches for the cheapest flights within the next nine months. Users can narrow their search results to specific dates and booking classes and, when searching for an airfare on the Facebook Messenger app, users can use the full name of their departure and destination airports, the international airport codes or their home city as the starting point.
Lufthansa waves goodbye to Boeing 737 after half a century
Lufthansa has said goodbye to its Boeing 737 fleet after 48 years. A B737-300, with registration D-ABEC (“Karlsruhe”), flew from Frankfurt to Hamburg on special flight LH9922, where Lufthansa bid farewell to its B737 fleet during a joint event with Lufthansa Technik. After a special ceremony, captain and fleet commander Ulrich Pade and his crew flew back to Frankfurt with a group of media representatives as well as a number of employees on board.
Lufthansa to invest €100m in Austrian Airlines fleet
Lufthansa has approved large-scale investments in the Austrian Airlines fleet. The investments will serve as the basis for the Austrian Airlines strategy entitled, “Next Level Austrian”, at the Vienna flight hub, as well as for the acquisition of one additional intercontinental and two additional continental aircraft.

Lufthansa signs off on Brussels Airlines purchase
The supervisory board of Deutsche Lufthansa has approved the exercising of a call option to acquire the remaining 55 per cent of shares in SN Airholding, the parent company of Brussels Airlines, at its meeting today. The approval paves the way for Lufthansa’s full acquisition of Brussels Airlines.
Lufthansa signs partnership deal with Air China
The Lufthansa Group and Air China signed a wide-reaching partnership agreement in Beijing today which will enable the two aviation groups to jointly operate all connections between Europe and China as part of a commercial joint venture. This means that the two companies will successfully implement what they agreed to do as part of a memorandum of understanding in summer 2014.
Köster takes over UK sales leadership with Lufthansa
Andreas Köster is the newly appointed senior director sales UK, Ireland & Iceland at Lufthansa Group. From today he will be responsible for the sales activities and representation of the Lufthansa Group in UK, Ireland and Iceland. Köster will be based in London and reports to Heike Birlenbach, vice president sales Europe Lufthansa Group.
Lufthansa cabin crew accept new contract offer
Lufthansa has welcomed the approval by the members of the Unabhängige Flugbegleiter Organisation (UFO), the union of the company’s crew staff, of the terms and conditions of the proposed new collective labour agreements cabin personnel. The approval promises longer-term industrial peace on the collective labour agreements front, the airline said in a statement.
Profits increase at Lufthansa but clouds darken ahead
Lufthansa has released first-half results for 2016, confirming adjusted EBIT increased by €61 million euros to €529 million. Total group revenue for the first half amounted to €15 billion euros, a 2.1 per cent decline on the prior-year period. Despite higher passenger volumes, traffic revenue was down 4.5 per cent due to strong pricing pressures in both the airline and the cargo businesses.
Lufthansa launches new route to San Jose, California
Lufthansa has launched a new, non-stop service between Frankfurt, Germany and San Jose, California. Flight LH 488 departs from Frankfurt at 10:50 local time, and is scheduled to arrive at Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport in San Jose at 13:40 local time. Eastbound flight LH 489 will leave San Jose at 15:20 local time, and is due to land in Frankfurt at 11:15 local time the following day.
Lufthansa links Teheran to Munich as Iran relations thaw
Lufthansa is flying non-stop once again from Munich to Teheran. Starting today, the connection under flight number LH 602 will begin three times a week at 22:10, arriving at the Iranian capital at 05:20. The Airbus A330-300 offers Lufthansa passengers the latest cabin facilities including Premium Economy with 21 seats.
