Radier steps up to chief executive role with Kenya Tourism Board
Betty Radier has been appointed as the new Kenya Tourism Board chief executive following an extensive recruitment process. Announcing the appointment, KTB chairman Jimi Kariuki said the board was confident Radier had the right qualifications to steer KTB and the country’s tourism sector into great new frontiers.
Amadeus partners with UNWTO for Kenya tourism programme
Amadeus, the United Nations World Tourism Organisation, and the ministry of tourism of Kenya have agreed to work together to help young people and women in underprivileged communities access employment and entrepreneurship opportunities in the travel and tourism industries. The pilot programme is scheduled for launch in Kenya before the end of 2017.

Kenya Tourism Board welcomes FCO travel advice
The Kenya Tourism Board is delighted at the decision made by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office to remove the travel advisory for further areas of the Kenya coast to include Malindi, situated northeast of Mombasa. The lifting of the advisory for this section of the coast means the area from Malindi to the Tanzanian border is an advisory-free zone and visitors can now access the coast via Malindi Airport in addition to Mombasa’s Moi International Airport and Ukunda Airport in Diani.
Kenya joins UNWTO Executive Council
Kenya has been elected to the highest decision making body of the United Nation World Tourism Organisation Executive Council. The announcement was confirmed at the 21st UNWTO General Assembly, held in Medellin, Colombia. Kenya’s appointment provides a significant endorsement to the country’s tourism sector as it means that Kenya will now, for the next two years, have a leading role on the UN affiliate body responsible for the coordination of global tourism issues and programmes.

The Kenya Tourism Board had cause for celebration earlier after Kenya scooped nine awards at the annual World Travel Awards Africa & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony. At the event, hosted by Kempinski Seychelles Resort, the organisation retained the trophy for Africa’s Leading Tourist Board, which KTB has held for four consecutive years.

Kenya welcomes FCO decision to lift coastal travel warning
The Kenya Tourism Board has welcomed the removal of the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office travel advisory for Mombasa and the entire stretch of the Kenya coast from Watamu to the border with Tanzania. While the south coast has always remained open for business, tourists will now be able to once again enjoy the majority of the Kenya coast, with the only exclusion now being Malindi and areas further north, including Lamu County.

KTB: No tourism impact following latest Kenyan attack
Kenya Tourism Board has said there were no international tourists in the area following the latest terrorist attack on the country. Gunmen attacked Mpeketoni Township, a farming community in Lamu County, later on Sunday, with 48 people believed to have been killed.
Kenya takes World’s Leading Safari Destination title at World Travel Awards
The Kenya Tourism has picked up the trophy for World’s Leading Safari Destination award at the Grand Final of the 20th World Travel Awards in Doha, Qatar. The award comes just a month after the destination’s tourism marketing agency, Kenya Tourism Board was voted Africa’s Leading Tourism Board by WTA during the Africa ceremony held in Nairobi.
