ITB Berlin the trendsetter in the gay and lesbian travel market
ITB, the leading travel trade show, is stepping up its activities in the market for gay, lesbian, bisexual & transgender tourism. Only recently, ITB Berlin became the first tourism trade fair to gain a seat on the supervisory board of the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA).
Asia outbound travel market grows 17%
The volume of foreign travel from Asia’s three main travel nations, China, Japan and South Korea, is growing again. Following a nine per cent decline due to the crises in 2009, in 2010 foreign travel from Asia increased by 17 per cent. This represents a total volume of 128 million individual journeys. Asia’s share of foreign travel now accounts for 18 per cent of the world total.
ITB Berlin reports boom in sports tourism
Sporting holidays are destined to become a winning trend, according to the latest research from ITB Berlin. According to the latest survey of the World Travel Monitor, over the last five years there has been a double-digit increase in sporting holidays among European tourists, which has even overtaken cruises, which five years ago ranked ahead of sporting holidays.
