Madrid takes part in one of the most important business tourism trade fairs
The city of Madrid once again presented at the IMEX trade fair in Frankfurt this year. Since 2010, the Madrid City Council, through the Madrid Visitors&Convention Bureau, has had its own stand at this event, with the aim of promoting and reinforcing Madrid’s image as a leading business tourism destination. This event, considered one of the most important international fairs specializing in the convention tourism sector, is held in Frankfurt in May.

An exit survey of just under 900 hosted buyers who attended IMEX in Frankfurt in May reveals that the show continues to attract a committed business audience. Overall, results and anecdotal feedback suggest that IMEX hosted buyers are strongly motivated to maximise use of the show’s online appointment system to meet their business goals with over 53,000 appointments scheduled before the start of the show. In addition, buyers are attracted by the show’s diverse and topical professional education programme, multiple networking opportunities and social events.

Introducing the IMEX Challenge team
The IMEX Challenge is a biennial humanitarian initiative designed to give meetings industry professionals the chance to work side by side in a physical challenge that will benefit the host community. The second Challenge takes place from 2-4 July 2012 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The IMEX Challenge team is working to support CUDV Draga – a residential Care Centre for mentally and physically handicapped children and adults – and the Slovenian BeBee campaign, which supports the habitat of declining bee colonies.
