IATA 2013: Anderson takes up role as IATA chairman
The International Air Transport Association has announced Richard Anderson, chief executive of Delta Air Lines, has assumed his duties as chairman of the IATA Board of Governors. Anderson succeeds Alan Joyce, chief executive of Qantas Airways, whose one-year term expired at the conclusion of the Association’s 69th Annual General Meeting in Cape Town.
IATA 2013: Qatar Airlines to host 70th IATA Annual General Meeting
The International Air Transport Association has announced Qatar Airways will host the 70th IATA Annual General Meeting and World Air Transport Summit. The event will draw the top leadership of the air transport industry to Doha in the State of Qatar from June 1st–3rd 2014.
IATA 2013: Members reaffirm support for NDC Initiative
The International Air Transport Association 69th annual general meeting reaffirmed its support for the New Distribution Capability initiative. This will develop an open, XML-based distribution standard for data exchange between airlines and travel agents.

IATA 2013: Airlines herald landmark call to curb emissions
Airlines at the IATA AGM have unanimously backed a call for an emissions market to offset growth in their greenhouse gases after 2020, in a move hailed a landmark effort to address the environmental impact of the industry. IATA members have adopted a resolution in favour of a market-based mechanism to help address airlines’ emissions.
