Air travel passenger demand climbs in August
August showed a strengthening of demand for global air travel with international passenger demand up 7.5% year on year, according to the latest traffic results from The International Air Transport Association.
IATA: Airline profits grow in 2013, but at a slower pace
The International Air Transport Association revised its 2013 global industry outlook downwards to $11.7 billion on revenues of $708 billion. Airline performance continued to improve in the second quarter; however at a slower pace than was expected with the previous projection, in June, of $12.7 billion.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced that Air Transat has become the first airline to renew its IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) registration under the Enhanced IOSA audit process.
IATA: Asia-Pacific continues to lead airline recovery
The International Air Transport Association has released June passenger demand figures showing year-on-year growth of six per cent. The robust growth, measured in revenue passenger kilometers, is ahead of the 4.8 per cent demand growth reported over the first six months of 2013 compared to the same period in 2012.
IATA Slot Conference heads for Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi is to host the IATA Slot Conference - a voluntary assembly of IATA and non-IATA airlines for one of the largest gatherings in the International Airport Transport Association’s calendar. The biannual conference will be held at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre in June next year.
IATA records healthy increase in global aviation
Global passenger traffic results compiled by IATA show that air travel continued to expand at a healthy rate in May 2013, with growth was led by emerging markets. Compared to the year-ago period, overall demand rose 5.6 per cent while capacity climbed 5.2 per cent pushing the load factor up 0.3 percentage points to 78.1 per cent.

IATA: Airlines face challenges to meet demand growth
The International Air Transport Association has called for new thinking on the relationships between partners in the air transport value chain. The trade body said this would be needed in order to attract the $4-5 trillion that will be needed over the next 20 years to meet the growing demand for aviation-enabled connectivity.

Gebremariam appointed to IATA Board of Governors
Ethiopian Airlines, the fastest growing airline in Africa, has announced its chief executive, Tewolde Gebremariam, has been elected to the International Air Transport Association Board of Governors. IATA is a trade association for the world’s airlines.
IATA report: A step towards the Single European Sky
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) welcomed European Commission (EC) proposals to strengthen the legislative basis for the Single European Sky (SES). The EC proposals are in response to the failure of European states to make progress toward the SES and its important goals: an improvement in safety by a factor of ten, a 10% reduction in aviation’s environmental impact, a 50% reduction in air traffic management costs and a three-fold increase in capacity.
