Discover Greece takes UK representation as holiday season begins
As UK travellers find new reasons to return to Greece, whose small size belies its vast choice of breath-taking island and mainland destinations, Grifco PR has announced they are to handle the PR for Discover Greece. Dozens await rescue from stricken Italian ferry
Dozens of passengers are awaiting rescue from the deck of a stricken Italian ferry following a fire on Sunday. As many as 120 passengers remain on-board the vessel, Norman Atlantic, which had been travelling from Patras in Greece to Ancona in Italy. Helicopter crews have been winching small groups of people to shore in gale-force winds and freezing temperatures off the Greek island of Corfu.

Athens hospitality market on road to recovery
Hotels in Athens reported significant performance improvement in 2013, according to data from STR Global and GBR Consulting. The market saw strong growth after the 2004 Olympic Games with significant increases in occupancy and average daily rate.
Savvy property investors target Rhodes
Now seems to be a good time to buy a property in Rhodes according to Savvas Savvaidis, head of Savvaidis & Associates. The company’s sales in 2013 show that the second home market on the Greek island is turning the corner. The number of transactions is 15% higher than that of the previous year, while the total value of sales is up more than 30%.
Marketing Greece records up turn in visitor numbers
Marketing Greece, the newly formed organisation that represents the country’s tourism industry, has welcomed the news that international visitors travelling to Greece by air and by sea recorded double-digit increases in 2013. From January to December 2013, a record 12.7 million tourists travelled to the main Greek airports, up by 10.8 per cent compared to 2012.
New leadership for Greek Tourism Confederation
The board of directors at the Greek Tourism Confederation has assigned Alexander Lamnidis the role of general manager, starting immediately. Lamnidis is replacing George Drakopoulos, who has ceased involvement with the confederation after 20 years.
