Domestic and international air traffic over Greece has been grounded, as workers launch a third general strike in protest at austerity measures imposed by the EU. The strike has also shut down all public services and schools, left ferries tied up at port and suspended all news broadcasts for the day.

Greece’s tourism industry has seen a boost following the successful hosting of the Olympic Games in 2004. And since the re-establishment of a Ministry of Tourism, a new vision of Greece as a year-round, diverse and unique destination is emerging.
