Eurowings expands summer holiday flights for 2017 season
Eurowings is working consistently on further expansion of its route network so as to offer passengers further attractive options for their holidays. Three new routes from Cologne/Bonn, Hanover and Vienna will complete the offering of the quality low-cost carrier from the Lufthansa Group in the summer 2017 flight schedule.
Record passenger growth at Cologne Bonn Airport
Welcoming 1.6 million more passengers last year than in 2015, Cologne Bonn Airport experienced an exceptional 15 per cent passenger traffic growth in 2016. As a result, the airport saw a total of 11.9 million passengers travelling last year.
Eurowings expands leisure travel options from Mallorca, Spain
Eurowings is expanding the routes offered from its first Spanish base in Mallorca. The airline is expanding the offering significantly with three new destinations in Germany, even before stationing the first two aircrafts there in May next year.
Eurowings takes off for Havana, Cuba
Eurowings has begun flying to a new destination, the Cuban capital of Havana. An Airbus A330 of the quality low-cost carrier from the Lufthansa Group took off earlier on its inaugural flight from Cologne/Bonn to the Caribbean metropolis.
Lufthansa to fold Brussels Airlines into Eurowings from January 2017
Lufthansa has confirmed it will exercise the call option for the outstanding 55 per cent of the shares it does not own in Brussels Airlines. The call option will come into effect by the end of December, with the closing of the transaction will expected at the beginning of January 2017.
Eurowings to launch new North America flights for summer 2017
Eurowings is continuing the expansion of its long-haul offering to the USA and will double the number of routes to North America by July 2017. In addition to Las Vegas and Miami, the quality low-cost carrier will then offer affordable flights from Cologne/Bonn to Orlando and Seattle.
Strike hits domestic flights at Eurowings
Flight attendants’ union Ufo has announced its members working for Eurowings in Düsseldorf and Hamburg will walk out on strike today. As a result of the action, Eurowings has suspended all of its domestic flights today. Passengers have been warned it will also be necessary to cancel or delay flights within Europe, with Eurowings working on an amended flight schedule for the period.
Eurowings introduces three day reservations
Eurowings has now introduced 72-hour airfare reservations. This enables customers to save the price of any flight found and then make plans with family or friends, or book other components of their trip, such as concert tickets, hire cars or hotels, calmly and without a rush.
Eurowings moves ahead with Mallorca base
Eurowings is pressing ahead swiftly with its recent decision to set up a new base on the Balearic island of Mallorca. The airline specialising in low-cost direct flights, which is part of the Lufthansa Group, has just released the first scheduled flights for booking which are to be operated by two Airbus A320 stationed at the airport in Palma de Mallorca.

Eurowings is taking the next step towards pan-European expansion, with the low-cost carrier opening its first base in a non-German-speaking foreign country in Palma de Mallorca. The Spanish island in the Mediterranean has long been seen as a top holiday destination with guaranteed sunshine far beyond Germany’s borders and has been breaking one visitor record after another for months.
Eurowings launches low-cost flights to Miami
Eurowings is expanding its network of cheap long-distance flights with new flight to Miami. The maiden flight - EW182 - took off earlier towards Miami, capital of the American sun state Florida. With Cologne Bonn as their departure airport, Eurowings guests boarded a fully booked Airbus A330.
Borussia Dortmund takes off in new team Airbus
Borussia Dortmund took off for the first time earlier on board their new team Airbus. The players of the eight-time German champions travelled – from Dortmund via Salzburg – to their first pre-season training camp on the Eurowings Airbus A320 painted in the club colours of black and yellow. Having their “own” aircraft went down well with the players who were waved off at Dortmund airport in the direction of the Kitzbühl Alps by Eurowings chief executives Oliver Wagner and Michael Knitter.
