Etihad plans Astana addition
Etihad Airways has launched weekly flights to the Kazakhstan capital, Astana, from its Abu Dhabi home base.Astana is the second destination in Kazakhstan to be served by Etihad and the airline’s 52nd across its expanding global flight network.
Etihad launches new first class cabin
Etihad Airways is enhancing its luxury air travel experience for premium passengers with its new first class cabin suite.The new first class cabin contains 12 individual suites, which have been designed to provide first class customers with more privacy, greater comfort and increased storage.
Etihad unveils destination management company
Etihad Airways has unveiled plans to launch its own destination management company to provide a range of leisure and business activities for visitors to Abu Dhabi and the UAE.The national carrier for the UAE is currently in discussion with local tourism partners, with the new company set to support the development and enhancement of the capital’s tourism infrastructure.
Etihad joins in World Cup spirit
Etihad Airways has played its part in the UAE national football team’s bid to qualify for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa by carrying the team and officials to its matches in North Korea and Saudi Arabia.
Etihad goes from strength to stength
Etihad Airways has announced plans to increase its passenger numbers by 15% in 2009 to a total of seven million.The airline will expand its global flight network to 55 destinations during the year as well as grow its fleet to more than 50 aircraft. A total of 900 weekly Etihad flights will operate this summer, a 20% rise on the 750 weekly flights which operated during the same season in 2008.
Etihad brings Hurling to Abu Dhabi
Etihad Airways, in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, will bring Abu Dhabi its first taste of Irish hurling, one of the world’s fastest sports, when it hosts the M. Donnelly Inter-Provincial Hurling Championship final.
Etihad strengthens Italian links
Etihad Airways has emphasised the importance of Italy to its global flight network and outlined plans to increase flights to the country, following a visit to Abu Dhabi by the Italian tourism minister. Her Excellency Michela Brambilla visited the UAE capital as part of a top level trade delegation, aimed at strengthening trade links between the two countries. The newly-appointed Italian tourism minister led a delegation of Italian government representatives and tour operators.
Etihad adds Chicago service
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, will begin flights to the US city of Chicago from 2 September, 2009. The route will be served initially three times a week and will increase to daily flights from Thursday 1 October, 2009. Chicago, the third largest city in America, will be the Abu Dhabi-based airline’s second US destination joining its daily flight to New York.

Etihad to launch Istanbul service
Etihad Airways is boosting its flying programme to Europe with the addition of a new route to Istanbul, Turkey.Turkey’s commercial capital will initially be served four times a week from June 2, expanding to five flights a week from October.
Etihad inks codeshare with Aer Arann
Etihad Airways has signed of a new codeshare agreement with Aer Arann, of Ireland. Under the deal, which is now in force, the Abu Dhabi-based airline will place its two-letter ‘EY’ code on Aer Arann’s regional flights from Dublin to Cork and Galway in Ireland and also to the Isle of Man.
Etihad to go direct to Athens
Etihad Airways is to launch direct flights to Athens, the Greek capital city, in June 2009. Etihad’s latest destination will bring the Abu Dhabi-based airline’s global flight network to 53 cities, supplementing services to Melbourne in Australia due to be launched in March 2009.
