Etihad Airways opens new European headquarters in Germany
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has unveiled its new European headquarters in Berlin, enhancing the airline’s presence in the German domestic market and further cementing its strategic relationship with airberlin. Located in the heart of Berlin’s historic Potsdamer Platz, the new office houses both Etihad Airways’ European and Germany sales and marketing teams, and includes joint Etihad Airways-airberlin reservation and ticketing counters.
Etihad Airways to grow equity investment model
Etihad Airways has foreshadowed more investments in other airlines, as it continues to increase its global presence through a mix of organic growth and strategic partnerships. James Hogan, the airline’s president and chief executive officer, said the airline was currently engaged in three major transactions – the acquisition of 24 per cent of India’s Jet Airways, a 49 per cent stake and management contract in Air Serbia, and increasing equity in Virgin Australia from ten per cent to a target of 19.9 per cent.
Etihad Guest to include Jat Airways
Etihad Guest, Etihad Airways’ award-winning loyalty programme, is to expand further with the integration of the Air Serbia, currently Jat Airways’, frequent flyer programme, Extra Flight Club, from Monday October 28th 2013. Members of the Etihad Guest programme can automatically earn and redeem Etihad Guest Miles across the entire worldwide partner network, which includes international hotel chains, car hire companies and retailers as well as hundreds of brands and thousands of products for miles redemptions in the programme’s Reward Shop.
Etihad Airways increases flights to Kathmandu
Etihad Airways will increase its Abu Dhabi-Kathmandu service from seven flights per week to a double daily schedule from November 1st, 2013. The additional flights build on the success of the existing service, driven by the demand from business and leisure travellers and will strengthen the already strong ties between Nepal and the UAE.
Etihad Airways launches new flying nanny service
Marry Poppins would have been proud. Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has launched a dedicated in-flight ‘flying nanny’ childcare assistance programme for families. The world’s fastest growing airline has partnered with Bath-based Norland College, a leader in training and education for nannies worldwide, to deliver a specialist childcare training programme for 500 cabin crew.
Etihad Airways launches BusinessConnect worldwide
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has extended BusinessConnect, its loyalty program for businesses, to 11 new markets including Bahrain, Belarus, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Nepal, the Netherlands, Oman, the Philippines, Qatar and Thailand. The mileage earning program is targeted at the small to medium-sized enterprise sector, offering huge opportunities and benefits for companies who fly with Etihad Airways.
Etihad lines up stake in Alitalia
Alitalia is in talks with Etihad over a deal that could see the Abu Dhabi-based airline take a stake in the Italian flag-carrier. Recently-appointed Alitalia chief executive Gabriele del Torchio is reportedly in talks with managers at the Middle Eastern carrier.

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has outlined a range of major changes to its Australian operations, including new aircraft, new routes, additional flights and new airport facilities. The airline’s plans for Australia include the launch of the Airbus A380 on routes from Sydney and Melbourne to Abu Dhabi and the construction of premium lounges at Sydney and Melbourne Airports from 2014.

Etihad Airways takes stake in JatAirways of Serbia
Etihad Airways has unveiled plans to acquire 49 per cent of JatAirways. The Abu Dhabi-based carrier has also been awarded a five year management contract for the Serbian national airline. These are two of the key components of a wide-ranging strategic partnership agreement, signed by Etihad Airways and the Government of Serbia, which includes a fleet of new aircraft, and a new integrated network of international destinations to enable greater access for business and leisure travellers to Serbia.
Etihad prepares for new arrivals with simulator purchase
Etihad Airways has purchased seven full flight simulators which will be based at the airline’s training academy in Abu Dhabi. The deal with Canadian manufacturer CAE, worth more than US$200m at list prices, will see Etihad Airways take delivery of its first Airbus A380 and Boeing 787 simulators, and will support the airline’s growing training requirements.
Etihad signs partnership deal with Korean Air
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has signed a new codeshare agreement with Korean Air, South Korea’s largest airline. The partnership, which comes into effect on July 22nd subject to regulatory approval, brings to 46 the number of codeshares operated by the Abu Dhabi-based flag carrier.
