Etihad Airways has made new key appointments within its commercial division which will support the airline’s growth and expansion plans. Amer Khan has been appointed to the position of regional general manager for Middle East and North Africa, responsible for managing Etihad Airways’ commercial operations across 16 countries from the airline’s base in Abu Dhabi. At the same time, Ronny de Lange, who has held numerous commercial roles in his four years with Etihad Airways, has been named vice president global corporate account management.

Etihad Airways has launched its new global brand campaign with the worldwide premiere of a new television commercial in Abu Dhabi, attended by Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman, representatives of the global media and hundreds of specially invited guests. Nicole Kidman is both star and narrator of the captivating feature, which will be shown on global TV stations and social media in both 60 and 30 second formats, with still versions of the campaign appearing in print, digital and on outdoor channels.

Etihad Airways has appointed John Friel as its new general manager in South Africa. Based at the airline’s offices in Johannesburg, Friel is responsible for leading Etihad Airways’ commercial operations in South Africa as it continues to grow its presence and operations across the region.

Etihad Airways has expanded its sales presence in Scotland following the launch of its new route from Edinburgh to Abu Dhabi in June. Justin Gosling has been appointed sales manager, Scotland along with Fiona McNicol as account manager, corporate sales working alongside Greig White, who has been appointed account manager, leisure sales.

Etihad Airways has appointed Linda Celestino as the airline’s Vice President Guest Services. Ms Celestino has more than 25 years’ experience in the airline industry having held senior positions in her native Australia and the Middle East, as well as being President of the New York-based Airline Passenger Experience Association.

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has introduced its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner into commercial service. The first flight, operated by a Boeing 787-9, departed Abu Dhabi at 02:15 as flight EY23 for the seven hour 25 minute flight to Düsseldorf, Germany.Also today, Etihad revealed it carried a record number of passengers and cargo in 2014, marking its strongest operational performance to date. Almost 14.8 million passengers flew with Etihad Airways last year, a significant increase of 23 per cent over 2013 levels.
