Etihad Airways to bring A380 to Melbourne route

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, will commence daily A380 services between Abu Dhabi and Melbourne on June 1st, 2016. The flagship superjumbo will operate flights EY460/461, one of the airline’s twice daily Abu Dhabi-Melbourne services. It will replace one of the three-class Boeing 777-300ER aircraft currently deployed on the route.

Etihad Airways has welcomed the ruling by the Administrative Court of Braunschweig allowing it to continue operating all its codeshare flights with airberlin to destinations in Europe, the US and the UAE. The injunction, which is valid until November 8th, provides an opportunity for the parties to resolve outstanding differences through on going consultation between the governments of the United Arab Emirates and Germany. Etihad as well as airberlin will continue to honour all flights and passenger travel arrangements will remain entirely unaffected.

Etihad Airways and its equity partner airlines have increased the funds raised from their unique platform financing transaction to US$700 million following a surge in demand from international financial institutions.
