Etihad Aviation Group has announced the appointment of Robin Kamark as chief executive, airline equity partners. He will be responsible for leading and developing the group’s minority equity investment strategy, which includes stakes in airberlin, Alitalia, Jet Airways, Air Serbia, Air Seychelles, Etihad Regional and Virgin Australia.

Etihad Airways and EgyptAir, the flag carrier of Egypt, have announced a new codeshare partnership. Under the initial phase of the agreement, Etihad Airways will place its ‘EY’ code on EgyptAir operated flights between Abu Dhabi and Cairo, while EgyptAir will place its ‘MS’ code on Etihad Airways flights between the two capital cities.

Etihad Airways is launching a third daily flight on the Abu Dhabi – Bengaluru route, effective from March 26th this year. The triple daily schedule will provide greater choice to local passengers travelling between the two cities, and improved connectivity to destinations across the GCC, North America and Europe via the airline’s Abu Dhabi hub.

Abu Dhabi International registered more than 24 million passengers passing through its terminals during 2016, according to statistics released earlier. A total of 24,482,119 passengers used AUH as a point of departure, arrival or transit, representing a 5.1 per cent increase on the 23,286,632 passengers throughout 2015.
