The Emirates Group has today announced it 25th consecutive year of profit and company-wide growth ending the year in a strong position despite continuing high fuel prices and a weak global economic environment. The financial year also ended with some very positive newly reached capacity milestones throughout the business. 

Regional Australia is set to benefit from increased international visitors as the Qantas-Emirates network delivers on its promise to boost inbound tourism. Outside the city gateways, regional centres such as Cairns, Coffs Harbour and Hobart are showing positive initial signs as new destinations on the Emirates network.

Expanding its presence in Scandinavia, Emirates has announced that it will begin operating a daily flight to Stockholm, Sweden from 4th September 2013. Consistently voted in the world’s top ten places to live and work, Stockholm is famous for offering visitors a vibrant and diverse cityscape. With strong bilateral trade links already in place, trade between the UAE and Sweden reached more than US$ 896 million in 2012, an increase of 4.3 percent from 2011.

Emirates president Tim Clark has described long hold-ups at immigration at Dubai International Airport as regrettable and said the delays “were a matter of high priority which we would hope to solve within weeks”. Speaking in Dubai at the recent press conference to welcome the Emirates-Qantas partnership, Clark said that the delays were “a victim of the airline’s (Emirates) success”.

Emirates, one of the world’s fastest growing airlines, has today announced a year-long sponsorship of the Tyne and Wear Metro, displaying travel inspiration to Newcastle passengers on the exterior of four Metrocars.  The deal demonstrates the airline’s continued support for Newcastle and the North-East region, highlighting it as a major UK hub.

Qantas and Emirates have welcomed a decision from the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission approving their proposed partnership for a period of five years. The partnership will provide customers with a seamless international and Australian network, frequent flyer benefits and world-class travel experiences.
