easyJet woos train passengers as prices rise
The annual UK train price change has come into effect and sees fares increase by an average of 1.1 per cent, while easyJet’s flight prices are lower than they were 20 years ago. The airline famously launched air fares for the price of a pair of jeans back in 1995 with starting fares between Luton and Glasgow of £29.00. Two decades on and starting fares on the same route are cheaper at £27.49 – a reduction of 5.2 per cent despite Air Passenger Duty tax increasing by more than 160 per cent in the same period.
New head of human resources for easyJet
easyJet has announced that it has appointed Jacky Simmonds as group people director and that she will join the airline on January 4th 2016. Prior to this appointment Simmonds was TUI Group’s global human resources director, having worked for TUI for fifteen years. She is also a non-executive director of Wolseley PLC where she is chair of the Remuneration Committee.

UK airlines bringing passengers home for Christmas
British Airways is preparing for Christmas 2015 with more than 450 of its pilots expecting to fly 35,000 customers across the world on December 25th. At the same time, easyJet has predicted this Friday to be the busiest Christmas getaway day in the airline’s history – with more than 204,000 passengers set to fly on over 1,300 flights across the network.
easyJet launches Glasgow - Milan route
easyJet has expanded its Scottish network with the launch of a new route from Glasgow to Milan Malpensa. The new year round service, which is expected to carry 26,000 annually, is Glasgow’s first direct connection to Milan. Flights operate twice weekly on Wednesday’s and Saturday’s with fares starting from £25.49 one way per person.
easyJet to offer live aircraft tracking with Flightradar24
easyJet has announced that it has further enhanced its award-winning mobile app by adding live aircraft tracking functionality directly from Flightradar24. The airline is the first in the world to have collaborated with Flightradar24 to integrate the feature into a mobile app, meaning passengers can view the exact whereabouts of the aircraft they are due to fly on in real time up to three hours before their flight.
easyJet to increase Scotland services with new aircraft
easyJet will be adding an additional aircraft to its Edinburgh operations from next year to cater for extra demand from its passengers and to enable the airline to fly to even more destinations from the airport. From summer 2016 there will be 8 easyJet aircraft based at Edinburgh operating on 36 routes.
easyJet suspends Sharm el-Sheikh flights into 2016
Low-cost carrier easyJet has cancelled all flights to Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt until January 6th. Flights were originally halted after the UK government said the Sinai plane crash, which killed 224 people in October, may have been caused by a bomb. The suspension has now been extended into the new year in an attempt to provide clarity for passengers, easyJet said.
easyJet orders 36 Airbus planes as revenues continue to rise
easyJet has signed a firm order for a further 36 A320 Family aircraft taking its cumulative order for the type to 451. The agreement for six A320ceo and 30 A320neo makes easyJet one of the world’s biggest airline customers for the A320ceo Family with 321 ordered and also for the A320neo with 130 on order.
easyJet connects Milan, Sardinia and Paris to Manchester with new flights
easyJet will operate three new routes next summer for business and leisure passengers travelling from Manchester Airport. Paris, Milan Malpensa and Olbia in Sardinia all went on sale today. easyJet now have 43 destinations on sale from Manchester.
easyJet reveals record number of low-cost flights for summer 2016
easyJet has put its peak summer schedule on sale for 2016 with a record number of flights and routes available for passengers to book. Over 103,000 flights are set to take place across easyJet’s network between June and September next year providing more than 17.1 million seats. Of these, more than 9.9 million additional seats are now on sale to and from the UK on 60,000 flights.
Biggest ever bookings day for low-cost carrier easyJet
easyJet experienced its biggest booking day ever on September 10th, when flights up until June 26th next year went on sale. More than half a million seats were booked in one day alone, as customers flocked to book their spring and early summer sun for 2016. Sales increased from all over the world with increased numbers not only booking in Europe but also through easyJet’s Chinese and US homepages.
