Choice Hotels International, Inc, one of the world’s largest hotel companies, today announced that Anne Engelking Smith has joined the company as Vice President of Brand Strategy. Smith joins the company from AARP where she was responsible for overseeing the AARP brand in commercial marketing and driving membership growth including the organization’s multicultural membership base.

Chris Van Hollen, Rockville Mayor Phyllis Marcuccio, Maryland State Sen. Jennie M. Forehand and more than 400 state and local elected officials, economic development leaders, community representatives and employees.

Choice Hotels has added 88 newly opened franchised properties to its portfolio during the first quarter of 2013. Additionally, the company has executed a total of 83 new domestic contracts within the first quarter of 2013, a 30-percent increase over the same period of the prior year.

Choice Hotels International is completing its move to its new global headquarters at 1 Choice Hotels Circle in Rockville, Maryland at Rockville Town Square. The company’s more than 400 headquarter employees will begin work here on April 8, 2013.
