Two men and two women died in the Thunder River Rapids ride at the attraction, the largest theme-park in Australia.

The ride sends visitors in circular rafts along a fast-moving artificial river.

The park in has been closed and an investigation is under way, a spokeswoman for the park told reporters earlier.

Queensland Ambulance spokesman Gavin Fuller said that two people had been thrown from the ride and two had been trapped inside.
