Emirates releases 360-video of Airbus A380 cockpit

Emirates has released the world’s first 360-video tour of the A380 cockpit. Watch captain Thomas Ziarno from New Zealand and first officer Abdulrahman Mohamed Al Busaeedi from the United Arab Emirates give an immersive 360-view tour of the flight deck controls of an Emirates A380, the world’s largest commercial aircraft.

Etihad Airways has rostered its next-generation A380 aircraft between Melbourne and Abu Dhabi, adding additional capacity. The flagship superjumbo will operate one of the airline’s double daily flights between Melbourne and Abu Dhabi. It will replace one of the three-class Boeing 777-300ER aircraft currently deployed on the route.

Emirates has announced it has placed an order with manufacturer Airbus for an additional two new A380 aircraft, to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2017. Emirates already operates the world’s largest fleet of Airbus A380s, with 75 in service and a further 65 on firm order.

Emirates has launched an Airbus A380 service to Birmingham Airport. The airline’s inaugural flight on its new daily A380 service from Dubai touched down at 12:20. This is the first time that the double-decker aircraft will operate a regular service from the airport, with the A380 replacing the Boeing 777 on the daily EK39/40 service.

Korean Air has confirmed that after almost five years since it introduced the A380 aircraft to its fleet, the double-decker will come into service on the Seoul Incheon-London Heathrow route. The A380 daily flight will commence with the start of the summer service on March 27th, with the flight leaving Seoul at 13:25 arriving at Heathrow’s terminal four at 17:25.

Air France chief executive Frédéric Gagey and Gilberto López Meyer, general director of Mexico’s Civil Aviation Authority, have signed an agreement formalising the arrival of the A380 in Mexico. From January 2016, Air France will offer three flights a week to Mexico with its super-jumbo jet via seamless connections at Paris-Charles de Gaulle. From the end of March 2016, the aircraft will fly between Paris and Mexico daily.

Etihad Airways has taken delivery of its second Airbus A380 in its striking new ‘Facets of Abu Dhabi’ livery, and has introduced the aircraft on the popular Abu Dhabi to London Heathrow route. Etihad Airways’ newest aircraft, registered A6-APB, will operate the EY19/EY20 rotation. Two of the airline’s three daily flights to London will now be operated by the A380.

Emirates has marked a record launch of ten new A380 routes in 2014 including an additional flight from London’s Gatwick Airport. The airline celebrated today with the release of a ‘mash-up’ video that shows the iconic aircraft landing in ten destinations spanning the globe. Laurie Berryman, Emirates vice president, UK, said: “Last year was a record-breaking year for our A380 network and adding ten new A380 destinations has given our customers more choice to travel to their favourite destinations and experience what this exceptional aircraft has to offer.”

British Airways’ millionth A380 customer took flight earlier on the BA268 from Los Angeles to London departing at 08:45 – the first destination the airline’s superjumbo flew to on its inaugural flight. British Airways took delivery of its first A380, registration LEA, in July 2013. Following a complex introduction to service programme, the first flight departed to Los Angeles on September 24th, 2013.
