Air France-KLM has completed the acquisition of a 31 per cent stake in Virgin Atlantic currently held by Virgin Group. The deal is valued at around £220 million and is part of an expanded transatlantic joint venture with Delta Air Lines.
Air France and bmi have announced a brand-new codeshare partnership on bmi’s Bristol to Paris service. Commencing for travel from May 14th, the partnership will provide business and leisure customers from Bristol Airport with access to 25 French cities via Air France’s award-winning hub at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.
American Express Global Business Travel has reached an agreement with Air France-KLM that enables customers to bypass a surcharge on air fares through participating global distribution systems, while maintaining access to content.
Expedia Group has confirmed that its customers in all European markets (including the UK and Switzerland) will not be charged the distribution surcharge on flights from Air France, KLM and the carriers’ low-cost affiliate, Hop!.

Singapore Airlines and regional subsidiary SilkAir have signed a memorandum of understanding with Air France-KLM to codeshare on each other’s flights with effect from April 2017. Under the agreement, which is subject to regulatory approvals, Singapore Airlines will add its ‘SQ’ designator code to Air France-operated flights beyond Paris to ten destinations - Aberdeen, Bordeaux, Edinburgh, Lisbon, Lyon, Madrid, Marseille, Newcastle, Nice and Toulouse.
Boeing and AerCap have delivered the first 787 to Air France. The airplane, a 787-9, signifies the delivery of AerCap’s 50th Dreamliner and will be deployed on Air France’s Paris to Cairo route starting in January. The airplane is also the 500th 787 produced on Boeing’s production lines.
Air France-KLM has pointed to a deteriorating global situation for a fall in profits during the second quarter of 2016. The group reported a five per cent fall in revenue to €6.22 billion for the three months to June 30th when compared with the same period last year.
