Air Canada and Air China have concluded a memorandum of understanding setting out the main principles for a comprehensive revenue sharing joint venture providing for an enhanced partnership on routes between Canada and China which will stimulate traffic growth between the two countries.
Amsterdam leads Air Canada 2015 European flight schedule expansion
Air Canada will introduce year-round mainline service to Amsterdam from Toronto beginning in June 2015 as part of the continuing expansion of its international network. Additions to the summer network also include new Air Canada rouge seasonal service from Montreal to Venice and between Vancouver and Osaka.

Air Canada will introduce non-stop flights between Vancouver and Osaka, Japan, next summer. Service to Osaka’s Kansai International Airport will be operated up to five flights per week by Air Canada rouge with Boeing 767-300ER aircraft offering a choice of economy and premium cabins of service.

Air Canada flies into London Heathrow Terminal 2
Air Canada operated its first flight into London Heathrow Airport’s new Terminal 2, The Queen’s Terminal. Flight AC856 from Toronto, a Boeing 777-300ER with 290 customers and a crew of 11 on board, arrived at 7:04 a.m. local time.
Air Canada receives first Dreamliner from Boeing
Boeing delivered the first 787 Dreamliner to Air Canada, the first airline in Canada to fly the Dreamliner. The airplane, the first of Air Canada’s 37 787s on order for delivery through 2019, departed Paine Field in Everett, Washington, on its delivery flight to Toronto.
Air Canada rouge launches Dublin-Toronto route
Air Canada rouge has inaugurated its year-round non-stop service from Dublin to Toronto with a celebration at Dublin Airport. Air Canada rouge is Air Canada’s new leisure carrier and will operate four weekly flights from the Irish capital to its Toronto hub, Toronto Pearson International Airport.
Air Canada adds service to Rio de Janeiro
Air Canada is launching a new, non-stop service between Toronto and Rio de Janeiro beginning December 11th, 2014. The year-round flights to Brazil’s ‘Marvelous City’ will complement Air Canada’s existing daily non-stop service to Sao Paulo.
Gogo brings Wi-Fi to Air Canada North American fleet
Gogo, a leading aircraft communications service provider to the global aviation industry, announces today that it plans on rolling out Wi-Fi on Air Canada’s entire North American fleet in May. The agreement also provides for future type-testing of Gogo satellite solutions for Wi-Fi on international flights. The international trials will take place in 2015.
Air Canada places $6.5bn order with Boeing
Boeing and Air Canada have finalised an order for 61 737 MAX airplanes to lead the airline’s single-aisle fleet renewal plan. The order, valued at $6.5 billion at list prices, consists of 33 737 MAX 8s and 28 737 MAX 9s, as well as 18 options and 30 rights to purchase additional 737 MAXs.
Venezuelan unrest sees Air Canada suspend flights
Continued civil unrest in Venezuela has seen Air Canada halt flights to capital Caracas. The carrier, which had operated three return flights a week between the destination and Toronto, is the latest international airline to reduce services to the country.
