Ryanair to sell Aer Lingus stake to IAG
The board of Ryanair has voted unanimously to accept an offer from International Airlines Group for the low-cost carrier’s 29.8 per cent shareholding in Aer Lingus Group. Ryanair’s stake in Aer Lingus has been available for sale since May 2012, after failed attempts from the low-cost giant to acquire the whole of the Irish flag-carrier.
Ryanair continues to battle Competition authority on Aer Lingus sale
The Competition & Markets Authority has reiterated its demand for Ryanair to sell most of its holding in Aer Lingus. The low-cost carrier must cut its stake in the Irish flag-carrier from 29.8 per cent to five per cent. Ireland’s government has agreed to sell its 25 per cent stake in the airline to International Airlines Group – owner of British Airways and Iberia.
IAG to acquire Irish government stake in Aer Lingus
International Airlines Group has agreed to purchase the Irish government held stake of flag-carrier Aer Lingus for approximately €1.4 billion. Existing Aer Lingus shareholders will receive €2.55 in cash for each Share, comprising a cash payment of €2.50 per share and a cash dividend of €0.05 per share. The terms of the transaction represent a premium of approximately 40 per cent on the closing price of €1.82 per Aer Lingus Share on December 17th 2014, the last dealing day prior to the first IAG offer.

Ryanair is planning to fight the UK Court of Appeal’s decision to uphold an earlier ruling that it must cut its stake in rival Irish airline Aer Lingus to just five per cent. The board of Aer Lingus has indicated to International Airlines Group that the financial terms of a propped takeover are at a level at which it would be willing to recommend it to Aer Lingus shareholders. IAG yesterday confirmed it had submitted an improved proposal to make an offer for Aer Lingus, valuing the company at €1.36 billion.

Board members at Air Lingus are “considering” the latest takeover offer from International Airlines Group. IAG – owner of British Airways and Iberia, as well as low-cost carrier Veuling – saw two offers for the Irish flag carrier rejected at the end of 2014, but returned with a revised offer of €2.55 a share. Aer Lingus Regional launches Dublin-Leeds Bradford route
Aer Lingus Regional’s new service to Dublin Airport, operated by Stobart Air, has commenced from Leeds Bradford. The airline will operate two daily return flights between Leeds Bradford and Dublin and expects to carry 70,000 passengers on the route in 2015. The Leeds Dublin route will be serviced by the airline’s newest aircraft which were delivered brand new in June this year and will operate to and from Dublin’s newest terminal - Aer Lingus’ hub - T2 at Dublin Airport.

Aer Lingus Regional, operated by Stobart Air, announced today that it will offer direct double daily return flights between Leeds Bradford International Airport and Dublin Airport from October 23rd 2014. This is the first time in 14 years that the airline is returning to Leeds Bradford.
IATA AGM 2014: New Distribution Capability revealed in Doha
The International Air Transport Association has announced three new pilot programs to test the New Distribution Capability schemas. Pilot participants include Aeroflot, Aer Lingus, Qatar Airways, and JR Technologies. NDC is a travel industry-supported program launched by IATA for the development and market adoption of a new, XML-based data transmission standard.
