AeroMobile brings inflight 3G connectivity to Aer Lingus
Inflight connectivity provider AeroMobile, in partnership with Panasonic Avionics, has announce the expansion of its 3G inflight network with the connection of two Aer Lingus A330s. The 3G expansion coincides with the Irish national carrier launching two new routes from its Dublin hub to Bradley International and Newark airports in the US.
Aer Lingus takes off for Hartford, Connecticut
Aer Lingus inaugural flight EI131 to Hartford, Connecticut took off on a Boeing 757, named St Brendan, registration EI-LBT, from Dublin airport earlier. The airline now offers a year-round service from Dublin direct to Hartford, Connecticut, in the heart of New England. The new Aer Lingus service not only creates a direct connection between Ireland and Connecticut, it also further establishes Dublin as the natural transatlantic gateway to North America.
Aer Lingus launches new route to Newark from Dublin
Irish airline Aer Lingus has launched a new daily service from Dublin to Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey. The new year-round route marks the latest addition to the carrier’s fast-growing transatlantic network. Only 40 mins from downtown Manhattan, Newark represents another great option for those keen to visit the Big Apple, complementing Aer Lingus’ existing double-daily services to New York JFK via Dublin and six-times weekly flights via Shannon.
Aer Lingus sees rapid transatlantic growth from Dublin
Irish carrier Aer Lingus has grown faster than any other airline between Europe and North America over the last six years. The airline currently flies to eight North American cities on ten transatlantic routes, with a further two exciting destinations joining the network next month.
Aer Lingus orders additional A330s
Aer Lingus is planning to order a further two A330-300s, to add to its previous order of ten of the Airbus wide body twin-engine aircraft. The Irish carrier, which is expanding its transatlantic network, currently has eight A330s in its fleet with two more due to be delivered this year.
New smartphone app from Aer Lingus
Aer Lingus has launched its brand new mobile app available to Android and Apple iOS users promising a smarter and more personalised mobile experience for its guests. Currently almost 50 per cent of Aer Lingus guests check in online before they reach the airport, over three quarters of those via desktop, with the remainder on mobile or tablet devices.
Aer Lingus celebrates 80th anniversary with new North American routes
Aer Lingus is celebrating 80 years of flying having launched its first ever flight from Baldonnel to Bristol in May 1936. To recognise this incredible milestone, Aer Lingus has flown the Iolar, a replica of the a six-seater De Havilland 84 Dragon which made that first journey with only five passengers, to Bristol once again, 80 years later.
Aer Lingus Regional launches Southampton-Cork route
Aer Lingus Regional has launched flights from Southampton Airport to Cork Airport in the south of Ireland. The new route, operated by Stobart Air, will operate up to five times weekly. Located on the south-west coast of Ireland, Cork is the second largest city and is a cosmopolitan city full of culture, colour and variety with plenty to do for a weekend break or an extended summer holiday.
Aer Lingus Regional to link Southampton and Cork
Aer Lingus Regional will offer new flights from to Cork, Ireland, to Southampton Airport from March 2016. There will be up to five flights per week between Cork and Southampton, and they will be operated by Stobart Air. Tickets will be on sale from today.
Aer Lingus launches Avios loyalty programme
Aer Lingus has announced a re-launch of its loyalty programme in partnership with Avios. The programme will launch in spring 2016 and will be named AerClub. Aer Lingus’ current loyalty programme, Gold Circle, was introduced in 1987 and a lot has happened in the airline and travel industries in the intervening 28 years.
Ryanair agrees to IAG acquisition of Aer Lingus stake
Aer Lingus Group will become part of International Airlines Group after its offer for all outstanding shares was formally accepted. Ryanair was the last piece to fall into place for, IAG with the Irish low-cost airline waiting until deadline day to accept the offer. Ryanair’s acceptance was a condition of the offer which is now wholly unconditional as all the conditions have been satisfied.
IAG wins EC approval for Aer Lingus deal
International Consolidated Airlines Group has welcomed a decision by the European Commission to approve its offer for Aer Lingus. IAG recently agreed to purchase the stakes in the Irish flag-carrier held by both the Irish government and rival carrier Ryanair.
