Aer Lingus Regional launches Southampton-Cork route
Aer Lingus Regional has launched flights from Southampton Airport to Cork Airport in the south of Ireland. The new route, operated by Stobart Air, will operate up to five times weekly. Located on the south-west coast of Ireland, Cork is the second largest city and is a cosmopolitan city full of culture, colour and variety with plenty to do for a weekend break or an extended summer holiday.

Aer Lingus Regional will offer new flights from to Cork, Ireland, to Southampton Airport from March 2016. There will be up to five flights per week between Cork and Southampton, and they will be operated by Stobart Air. Tickets will be on sale from today.
Aer Lingus launches Avios loyalty programme
Aer Lingus has announced a re-launch of its loyalty programme in partnership with Avios. The programme will launch in spring 2016 and will be named AerClub. Aer Lingus’ current loyalty programme, Gold Circle, was introduced in 1987 and a lot has happened in the airline and travel industries in the intervening 28 years.
Ryanair agrees to IAG acquisition of Aer Lingus stake
Aer Lingus Group will become part of International Airlines Group after its offer for all outstanding shares was formally accepted. Ryanair was the last piece to fall into place for, IAG with the Irish low-cost airline waiting until deadline day to accept the offer. Ryanair’s acceptance was a condition of the offer which is now wholly unconditional as all the conditions have been satisfied.
IAG wins EC approval for Aer Lingus deal
International Consolidated Airlines Group has welcomed a decision by the European Commission to approve its offer for Aer Lingus. IAG recently agreed to purchase the stakes in the Irish flag-carrier held by both the Irish government and rival carrier Ryanair.

The board of Ryanair has voted unanimously to accept an offer from International Airlines Group for the low-cost carrier’s 29.8 per cent shareholding in Aer Lingus Group. Ryanair’s stake in Aer Lingus has been available for sale since May 2012, after failed attempts from the low-cost giant to acquire the whole of the Irish flag-carrier.
Ryanair continues to battle Competition authority on Aer Lingus sale
The Competition & Markets Authority has reiterated its demand for Ryanair to sell most of its holding in Aer Lingus. The low-cost carrier must cut its stake in the Irish flag-carrier from 29.8 per cent to five per cent. Ireland’s government has agreed to sell its 25 per cent stake in the airline to International Airlines Group – owner of British Airways and Iberia.
IAG to acquire Irish government stake in Aer Lingus
International Airlines Group has agreed to purchase the Irish government held stake of flag-carrier Aer Lingus for approximately €1.4 billion. Existing Aer Lingus shareholders will receive €2.55 in cash for each Share, comprising a cash payment of €2.50 per share and a cash dividend of €0.05 per share. The terms of the transaction represent a premium of approximately 40 per cent on the closing price of €1.82 per Aer Lingus Share on December 17th 2014, the last dealing day prior to the first IAG offer.
Ryanair to take Aer Lingus case to Supreme Court in UK
Ryanair is planning to fight the UK Court of Appeal’s decision to uphold an earlier ruling that it must cut its stake in rival Irish airline Aer Lingus to just five per cent. The UK Competition Commission (now the CMA) investigated Ryanair’s 29.8 per cent shareholding in Aer Lingus to see if it prevented that carrier from merging to remain competitive.

Aer Lingus willing to recommend IAG takeover proposal to shareholders
The board of Aer Lingus has indicated to International Airlines Group that the financial terms of a propped takeover are at a level at which it would be willing to recommend it to Aer Lingus shareholders. IAG yesterday confirmed it had submitted an improved proposal to make an offer for Aer Lingus, valuing the company at €1.36 billion.
