Windstar Cruises Adds Bike Program to Yachts

Windstar Cruises, which operates a three-ship fleet of luxury yachts that explore hidden harbors and secluded coves of the world’s most treasured destinations, has added a bike program to its fleet of sailing yachts for guests who enjoy exploring destinations on their own by bike.

Windstar’s new bike program features 7000-series, aluminum frame Dragon Marine Folding Bikes. Wind Surf has eight bikes and Wind Spirit and Wind Star each have four bikes. The bikes are available for half day or full day rental. Rates are $39 for a half-day rental (4 hours), or $59 for a full-day rental (8 hours).  Bike helmets, locks and chains are provided.

Bikes are available for rental in most ports and guests can reserve bikes through Windstar’s Destination Manager aboard each yacht. 

Windstar recently released its 2012 Collection of Luxury Sailings which visit enchanting destinations and provide unforgettable experiences at exceptional values. In addition to receiving the lowest introductory pricing in years, guests who book by June 30, 2011, receive a $200 shipboard credit per cabin, and those who book their sailing 180 days or more receive an added 15% discount. Windstar’s Foremast Members receive an additional 5% discount on all itineraries.

Windstar has been honored by some of the most notable names in the travel world. Windstar was selected in 2011 as one of “The World’s Best Cruise Lines” by Conde Nast Traveler on their 16th Annual Gold List along with all three ships selected for the magazine’s “Best Small Ships” list. Windstar was also was selected for the fifth consecutive year as the best small/mid-size cruise line by the discerning readers of Celebrated Living, American Airlines’ publication for first class passengers. Windstar was also chosen in 2010 as one the “Top 10 Cruise Lines” by  Windstar earned top honors in Travel + Leisure’s “World’s 2010 Best Awards” and received the “Most Romantic Cruise Line” honor from Porthole Magazine for the sixth time.
