Windstar Cruises expands fleet with addition of three Seabourn ships
Windstar Cruises announced today that its owner, Xanterra Parks & Resorts(®), has reached an agreement with Seabourn, a cruise company that operates six luxury cruise ships, to purchase three of their ships: Seabourn Pride, Seabourn Legend, and Seabourn Spirit. Under the project name Global Windstar, the expansion will double the size of Windstar’s recently renovated, three luxury sailing yacht fleet, making the company the market leader in small-ship cruising with 300 or fewer passengers, with a total of 1,230 berths.
Windstar Cruises picks up three vessels from Seabourn
Xanterra Parks & Resorts, parent of Windstar Cruises, has acquired three yachts from Seabourn Cruises. Seabourn Pride, Seabourn Spirit and Seabourn Legend will be integrated into Windstar’s fleet over a two-year period beginning in the spring of 2014, doubling its size.
Windstar Cruises announces voyages to Tahiti
Windstar Cruises announced today that they will return to the South Pacific in the summer of 2014. Beginning May 2, 2014, Wind Spirit, the line’s recently renovated 148-passenger sailing yacht, will sail seven-day voyages from Papeete, Tahiti. Wind Spirit will sail 28 voyages in Tahiti, with the last voyage on November 7, 2014, before returning to Panama and Costa Rica for the winter season.
Windstar Cruises completes fleet-wide renovation
With the completion of Wind Spirit’s dry dock on December 22nd, Windstar Cruises’ $18 million fleet-wide renovation project is now finished. The project, which began in December of 2011, encompassed all three sailing yachts in a stem-to-stern renovation that enhanced public spaces, dining venues, staterooms and suites, as well as new sails.

Windstar Cruises announced today that advance bookings on 2013 sailings are 60% ahead of the prior year. Based on current pace, 2013 will mark the fourth straight year of increasing revenue for the small-ship cruise line.
