It’s not all cowboy hats and rodeos. The Calgary Stampede, taking place from 6 – 15 July 2012 in Alberta,Canada, is famous for its outrageous food offerings and, to celebrate its centennial event, this year’s show is set to serve up the craziest dishes yet.

“The Calgary Stampede is a feast for the senses and we aim to keep your taste buds zinging,” says Lindsay Jardine, Tourism Sales Manager, Calgary Stampede. “We’re renowned for our innovative food and, to celebrate our Centenary, we’re offering a range of new delicious treats for every palette.”

Jardine is not kidding. For the sweet tooth there’s everything from Red Velvet Funnel Cake, deep fried Wagon Wheels and Loukoumathes (deep fried honey puffs), while those with a fetish for savoury can indulge in Naco Bits (deep fried butterchicken sausage), Taco Pizza and Beef Bacon Sandwiches.
