Swiss train derails near tourist town of St Moritz

A Swiss trail has derailed near the popular ski resort of St Moritz.

The train came off the tracks on top of a gully after running into a landslide.

There are reports of 11 injuries, however, nobody is believed to have been killed during the accident.

The accident, near Tiefencastel, left one carriage hanging over the edge of the ravine.

Another plunged down before the side of the ravine before lodging behind a tree.

The landslide happened after heavy rain in eastern Switzerland overnight.

There were reportedly 200 people on the train when the accident happened, with injured passengers airlifted to hospital.

The Swiss rail system is widely seen as among the safest in the world.
