As families and college students embark on Spring Break vacations, Orbitz (www.orbitz.com) releases the top destinations where Spring Break travelers are heading this year. And, for the budget-minded traveler, it also reveals which destinations are offering some of the biggest savings on hotels compared to Spring Break 2009.
“While destinations like Las Vegas and Cancun dominate as the most popular Spring Break vacation spots, travelers will find that some of the biggest savings can be found in equally appealing hotspots like Riviera Maya and Cabo San Lucas,” said Jeanenne Tornatore, Orbitz Travel Insider. “Mexico, in particular, is such an attractive destination for travelers this spring with low hotel rates, inviting weather and new beaches.”
Top 2010 Spring Break Destinations
Not a lot has changed for the Top 10 destinations since Spring Break 2009, but there are a few shifts in ranking. Notably, Orlando moves up from #10 to #5, San Diego from #12 to #9, and Punta Cana fell from #6 to #8.

Spring Break Destinations with Biggest YOY Hotel Savings
From Mexico to Hawaii, travelers will find hotel deals in destinations that offer a variety of experiences for a Spring Break traveler. The biggest Average Daily Hotel Rate (ADR) year-over-year savings can be found in Fort Myers, FL, ($95 ADR) and Kapaa, HI, ($87 ADR). Both are great options for those looking for a beach getaway. For travelers interested in getting off the beaten path, cities like Savannah, GA ($113 ADR) and Puerto Morelos, MX ($255 ADR) offer a nice respite from the crowds, and plenty of charm and local flair for the tourist who enjoys a more cultural experience.
