New MICE leadership for Cancun tourism

New MICE leadership for Cancun tourism

The Cancun Convention & Visitors Bureau has announced the appointment of Rocío González Jonguitud to the position of meetings industry director.

She has been working at the tourist board for six years and brings with her a wealth of conferences and exhibitions experience.

Based in Cancun she will be working with partners and around the globe to promote Cancun’s world class MICE offering.

The appointment comes at a time when a multimillion pound renovation of the Cancun Centre nears completion.

Located in the heart of Cancun’s Hotel Zone, the centre began its operations in 2004 and has since positioned itself as the number one facility in the region for conferences, conventions and exhibitions of national and international stature.

The centre currently hosts more than 500 events each year and attracts more than 23,000 delegates.

When renovations are completed this summer, González Jonguitud will be looking to capitalise on the new state of the art facilities.

In addition to the Cancun Centre, the city also offers more than twenty superb hotels and resorts with meeting spaces and outstanding modern amenities.

And entertaining delegates in Cancun could not be easier with an extensive range of cultural tours, fabulous restaurants, premier golf courses and sophisticated nightlife.

This year is already shaping up to be a good year for the Cancun MICE industry and in particular for cost conscious Brits.

With seven direct flights to Cancun a week, UK MICE planners can choose to fly with British Airways or Virgin Atlantic from London Gatwick.
