Oman Air has appointed Captain Ali Hassan Sulaiman to the post of Deputy Chief Officer, Flight Operations.

Captain Sulaiman assumes the role following 30 years’ professional experience in civil aviation. This time includes a range of managerial positions at Oman Air and Gulf Air, including the position of Chief Operations Officer at the Gulf Aviation Academy in Bahrain.

On Captain Sulaiman’s appointment, Oman Air’s Chief Executive Officer, Peter Hill, said: “We are delighted to welcome Captain Ali Hassan Sulaiman back to Oman Air, where, as Deputy Chief Officer, Flight Operations, we are sure he will make an invaluable contribution to Oman Air’s continued success.

“Captain Sulaiman worked at Oman Air between 2008 and 2010, as our Senior Manager Training and Standards, where his extensive knowledge and commitment helped to boost efficiency, effectiveness and outcomes. We look forward to seeing him deliver similar achievements in this new, significantly more senior role.”

Captain Ali Hassan Sulaiman, an Omani national, began his career as a student pilot at Gulf Air in 1981 and undertook training in Doha, the UK and the USA, before qualifying as a commercial pilot. He was appointed as a First Officer in 1984 and promoted to Captain in 1992.

Captain Sulaiman is experienced in flying a range of aircraft, including the Tri-Star, Boeing 737 and 767, and Airbus A320, A330 and A340. In 2009, he received the honour of piloting Oman Air’s first Airbus A330 from the factory at Toulouse, France, to Oman Air’s home base at Muscat International Airport. Captain Sulaiman’s managerial experience is extensive, covering areas such as flight operations, training and standards.
