momondo finds growing number of Brits use frequent flyer schemes

Leading meta-search momondo.co.uk this month surveyed a cross-section of 2,000 Great British citizens, to find 12 per cent are members of frequent flyer programs.

Furthermore, momondo confirmed this sector is an active market.

Over the last 12 months, 41 per cent of frequent flyer scheme members chose to book a flight between one and two times with a certain carrier, solely to claim airline points, with the frequent flyer scheme through which it was part.

Indeed, ten per cent of frequent flyer scheme members chose to book certain flights for points between three and four times, and six per cent choose flights five or more times, solely to earn points through their program, or alliance.

The search site has acted on this data, launching an Alliance filter, to help with flight selection - offering a valuable function to this section of British travellers.

The filter enables members of programs to easily find the cheapest and most convenient flights from airlines in their chosen alliances – for example oneworld, SkyTeam or Star Alliance, letting them earn points as they fly.

The filter appears on the left hand side of the flight search results on momondo, between the ‘via’ and ‘airline’ filters.
