‘Million Dollar Memo’ generates buzz in offices around the world

Men wearing bowler hats in London, jumping kangaroos in Germany, business suited scuba-divers in Taiwan, fleets of Queensland branded cabs, bicycles and billboards have brought the Million Dollar Memo to workplaces world-wide in the first week of Tourism Queensland’s new global campaign.

Jane Nicholson, regional director, Tourism Queensland UK, Ireland and Nordic regions, said in its first week the Million Dollar Memo had been publicised everywhere from China to Croatia.

“It’s been a week since Tourism Queensland launched the Million Dollar Memo and in that time more than 40,000 people from around the world have visited milliondollarmemo.com,” she said.

“We’ve also seen some great responses online and from people entering online,” commented Jane Nicholson.

Following the launch in Queensland, Australia, the UK and Ireland, Tourism Queensland’s 13 international offices activated the memo with a variety of stunts in some of the world’s busiest business districts from London to LA, Shanghai, Taiwan and Germany.

Jane Nicholson said Tourism Queensland was pleased with the response to date and interaction with the campaign.

“It’s great to see people are talking about the Million Dollar Memo and discussing with their work colleagues a suitable script that will give them the best chance of securing the ultimate reward - $1million in incentive travel to Queensland,” she said.

“Workplaces have from now until the 1 May to submit their entry on to www.milliondollarmemo.com.

“Entrants will then be shortlisted to a Top 50 and then a Final 20 who will be brought to Queensland to compete in an Incentive Challenge Event at unique locations throughout Queensland in August.”

Jane Nicholson confirmed the Million Dollar Memo was well and truly out in offices, cafes, appearing in taxis and at conferences so it is over to the companies to get out there, make their videos and enter the competition.

The Million Dollar Memo campaign is proudly supported by Virgin Blue, Etihad Airways, Gold Coast Convention Bureau, Business Events Sunshine Coast, Tourism Whitsundays Convention Bureau and Business Events Cairns & Great Barrier Reef.  Mackay Convention Bureau, Townsville Convention Bureau, Brisbane Marketing Convention Bureau are also partners in supporting the campaign.
