Malmaison Hotel du Vin moves ahead with York property

Malmaison Hotel du Vin, the leading lifestyle hotel group, has taken an exciting and important step closer to bringing the famous Malmaison brand to York.

The brand has received planning permission from York City Council to undertake a multi-million pound transformation of Yorkshire House on Rougier Street into a stunning Malmaison hotel.

Work is set to begin later this year and the new hotel will offer over 160 stylish bedrooms and stunning suites.

The development will generate up to 120 new local jobs.

The hotel will also bring to York the Chez Mal Bar and Brasserie, where stylish surroundings will provide the ideal setting for those looking to take on Malmaison’s famously creative cocktails and iconic dining with a twist.

For those wanting to mix business with pleasure, it will also include the brand’s new and ground-breaking meeting and events concept, Work + Play, mixing Malmaison’s classic style with high tech systems, private meeting pods and flexible pricing.

The news comes at an exciting time for the Group, and follows a period of significant growth over the last 18 months, including the acquisition of four new properties across the UK and the continued roll-out of a multi-million pound investment programme into its existing portfolio.

Paul Roberts, chief executive, Malmaison Hotel du Vin, said: “We have long been fans of York, where Hotel du Vin continues to be a favourite for both locals and visitors.

“The vibrancy of the City means that it is also a perfect location for the Malmaison brand.

“We can’t wait to get started on this exciting opportunity.”
