London prepares for ATP World Tour Finals

World No. 1 Rafael Nadal will head up Group A at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals which will take place in London next week.

The Spaniard is joined by Novak Djokovic, Tomas Berdych and Andy Roddick in the group, while in Group B, four-time former champion Roger Federer will be challenged by Robin Soderling, Andy Murray and David Ferrer.

The draw for the prestigious season finale was made on earlier this week at La Galleria Pall Mall in London.

Fans at The O2 will be treated to re-matches of the Wimbledon and US Open finals when Nadal faces debutant Berdych and former champion Djokovic respectively in the round robin stages.

The Mallorcan, who has won three Grand Slam titles this season, is bidding to record his first victory at The O2, after suffering three defeats in the group matches last year.

Three-time Wimbledon runner-up Roddick, who has qualified for the season finale for the eighth straight year, will be Nadal’s first opponent on Monday evening, with Djokovic set to play Berdych in the first Group A match on Monday afternoon.

Sunday & Monday Schedule

In Group B, Federer and home favourite Murray will meet for the third successive year at the season finale in what will also be a repeat of this year’s Australian Open final.

Murray prevailed when the pair contested a titanic battle in Shanghai two years ago, before Federer gained revenge with a three-set victory over the Scot in London last year.

Last week’s BNP Paribas Masters champion Soderling will pose a strong threat in Group B, and opens his campaign against Murray, while Spain’s Ferrer will face 16-time Grand Slam champion Federer on Sunday evening in a repeat of the 2007 final.

Doubles Tournament

In doubles, defending champions Bob Bryan & Mike Bryan will feature in Group A, together with Lukas Dlouhy & Leander Paes, Mariusz Fyrstenberg & Marcin Matkowski, and Jurgen Melzer & Philipp Petzschner.

Playing their final tournament as a team, Daniel Nestor & Nenad Zimonjic headline Group B and will be joined by Lukasz Kubot & Oliver Marach, Mahesh Bhupathi & Max Mirnyi, and Wesley Moodie & Dick Norman.
