Kuoni begins UEFA Euro 2016 preparations

As the first qualifying matches for the UEFA Euro 2016 final tournament kicked off at the weekend, a new website is helping successful teams find the best training grounds and nearby accommodation.

Launched by UEFA and Kuoni, the official UEFA Euro 2016 accommodation agency, the new website, capitalises on France’s position as the world’s number one tourist destination and its network of hotels catering for all budgets and tastes.

The website catalogues 66 potential base camps, a combination of selected hotels and training grounds, chosen from stadiums and training centres used by the country’s professional and amateur clubs.

Says Peter Meier, chief executive, Kuoni Group, explained: “Just like UEFA’s passion for football, Kuoni’s passion for travel is unsurpassed.

“Thanks to our local knowledge and longstanding relationships with providers, we have sought out accommodation in quiet, pleasant areas that are easy to secure and offer ideal conditions to help teams play at their best.

“All will meet the needs and expectations of each of UEFA’s 54 member associations.”

The site maps training grounds and accommodation in relation to the ten destinations where matches are taking place: Bordeaux, Lens-Agglo, Lille-Métropole, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Paris, Saint-Denis, Saint-Etienne and Toulouse.

Users can narrow their search based on ground and hotel facilities, as well as star-rating and style of hotel, and can also find practical data on local climate and distances between match locations.

National football federations using the site can also log in to a dedicated area to see additional team specific information and to print out key data.

Kuoni has a wealth of international experience in sports travel and is a practised provider of travel-related services.

It was the official accommodation agency for UEFA Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland.

The company’s sound knowledge of the essential services needed by a UEFA European Football Championship, combined with its local destination expertise has made it a regular partner to UEFA and over 30 leading European football clubs and their official travel agents.
