Kazakhstan presentated a report at the General Assembly of the BIE

Kazakhstan participated at the 154th session of the General Assembly of the International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE) on November 27, 2013 in Paris (France).
Kazakhstan delegation including Rapil Zhoshybayev, Commissioner of the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO-2017, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Talgat Yermegiyaev, Chairman of the Board of “NC “Astana EXPO-2017” JSC presentated a report on the preparations for the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO-2017.

In particular, the report will contain information on the activities of the National Company in 2013. BIE representatives will be introduced with the key events of EXPO-2017 Project such as holding of an international architectural competition for the best sketch idea of an exhibition venue, enactment of a bill on Expo, development and approval of Registration Dossier by the state commission, selection of a new logo of the exhibition.

JSC “NC Astana EXPO-2017” was established in January of this year. Currently, the company employs more than 60 people. During the year, EXPO-2017 has been presented at various international thematic conferences, forums and tourism fairs. Besides an informational work among the population as well as presentations for students, round tables and youth debates are carried out. On November 22, Kazakhstan celebrated a year after winning the right to host EXPO-2017.

“Hosting of EXPO 2017 in Astana includes developments in the City of Astana and the whole country, as well as improving roadways and expanding the International Airport, amongst other projects”, said T. Yermegiyaev.

Rapil Zhozhybayev informed: “Under my supervision we have set up a working group on foreign participation in EXPO 2017 which focuses on issues such as the image of Kazakhstan, tourism, attracting domestic and foreign participants and visitors, as well as assisting during their stay in Kazakhstan”.

Rapil Zhoshybayev, Commissioner of EXPO-2017 visited a number of countries in the framework of holding the International Specialized Exhibition in Astana. Thus, Commissioner of the exhibition made business trips to England, Austria, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, China, Latvia, South Korea, and France.

Also today, secret voting of the BIE members will choose a host city for the World Expo 2020. Let us recall that the following countries submitted their bids to host the World Expo 2020: Turkey (Izmir), Russia (Yekaterinburg), UAE (Dubai), Brazil (Sao Paulo). It is worth noting that Ayutaya city (Thailand) is out of the race as it withdrew its candidacy this summer.
