Finnair adds new departure to Astana ahead of Expo 2017

Finnair has announced that it will add a new short-haul route to Astana, Kazakhstan for the summer 2017 season. The award-winning airline will operate two weekly flights between Helsinki and Astana, from June 20th until August 11th, with travellers from the UK able to take advantage of the new route to visit the 2017 World Expo which starts in the Kazakh capital in June 2017.

More than 100 countries have already confirmed their participation in Expo 2017. Ukraine, South Africa, the Dominican Republic and the Republic of Colombia have been added to the list of participating countries that will show their achievements in renewable power generation at the event in Astana, Kazakhstan.

An Air Astana Embraer 190 has become one of the first of 30 aircraft in the fleet to feature the distinctive Astana Expo 2017 logo on both sides of the fuselage. “Astana Expo 2017 will strongly focus on the eco-friendly energy, with exhibitors in the fields of demand, innovation and practical solutions expected to take a high profile at the event,” said Peter Foster, president, Air Astana.
