Karachi International Airport attacked by Taliban

A raid by the Pakistani Taliban on Karachi international airport has left 28 people dead, including ten militants.

The group attacked a terminal used for VIP flights and cargo at the airport late on Sunday night.

Among the dead terminal staff were security guards from the Airport Security Force.

Airline workers are also believed to have been killed, with at least a further 14 people wounded.

Violence was quelled overnight with airport officials stating flights were set to resume in the afternoon.

The Pakistani army said ten gunmen stormed Jinnah International Airport in two teams of five on Sunday at 23:00 local time.

Flights were diverted to other airports as the airport was closed.

The militants set fire to cargo, but no aircraft were damaged.
