With only one week to go before the Expo 2020 “Be part of it” competition closes, people across the country are encouraged to seize the opportunity to enter their submissions for a chance to represent the UAE at a special reception in Paris, France, this November.
Entries can be submitted on the UAE Expo 2020 website (www.expo2020dubai.ae) until September 30. Submissions can be brief essays, poems, pictures, artworks or short films answering the question: Why should the UAE be chosen to host the world in 2020?
Shortlisted entries will be featured on the UAE Expo 2020 website, where members of the public can vote for their favourite submissions. After the voting process, five winners will be selected by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Each winner will be named an “Expo Ambassador” and given significant opportunities to take part in the UAE’s Expo 2020 bid, including a trip to Paris to represent the country at a special UAE reception for officials from the Bureau International des Expositions – the international organisation responsible for overseeing the bidding, selection and organisation of World Expos.
Dubai, UAE, is competing against four other candidate cities bidding to host the 2020 World Expo, including Ayutthaya (Thailand); Ekaterinburg (Russia); Izmir (Turkey); and Sao Paulo (Brazil).
