Eurostar is launching a new pre-bookable gift service giving customers the chance to surprise their travel companion with chocolates or champagne delivered to their seat.

In direct response to customer demand, passengers can now make their journey extra special by pre-ordering a gift of sparkling wine, champagne or chocolates when they book their Eurostar ticket.

Chris Jenkin, head of product and partnerships, Eurostar, said: “Over a fifth of our leisure customers are marking a special occasion when they travel with us, whether it’s an anniversary, birthday or honeymoon.

“Our new gift service will get their celebrations off to a great start with luxury chocolates or chilled champagne served at their seat.

“This is just one of a number of initiatives we’ve introduced this year to give our customers the best possible experience.”

Gifts must be ordered at the time of booking a ticket via the Eurostar Contact Centre.

Prices vary from £5 for a small bottle (20cl) of sparkling white wine, to £38.90 for a standard-sized (75cl) bottle of Pannier Brut Sélection champagne, and £6.50 for a box of O’Brien’s chocolates.
