Cayman Concierge opens doors to Caribbean visitors

In the era of web technology, one tourist board is reverting to good old-fashioned people skills.

Cayman Concierge is a new, personalised service that has been launched by the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism in the UK with a simple purpose; to give potential visitors to the islands quick, reputable and up to the minute information, recommendations and inspiration.

Officials hope the move will enable potential visitors to book their perfect trip and get the most out of their holiday.

Whether the preference is to book direct or through a specialist tour operator or travel agent, a caller to Cayman Concierge will receive invaluable, practical and impartial advice and contact details for specialists in a huge range of interests ranging from diving and watersports to wildlife and birding, luxury and romance, family and solo travel.

Cayman Concierge is staffed by a team of Cayman Islands experts some of whom have been employed by the Department of Tourism for up to 20 years, all of whom have extensive personal knowledge of the islands both above and below water.

The service is available by phone or email, 09:30 to 17:00 Monday to Friday, with a messaging service for out of hours calls and emails.

Despite its reputation for having the best beaches in the Caribbean, including Seven Mile Beach, Cayman is far from just a ‘fly and flop’ destination.

Visitors to the islands can enjoy exploring the 76 square miles of mangrove forests, pristine coral reefs, wildlife and friendly, colourful villages that make up the largest of the three islands, and a 40 minute flight on Cayman Airways Express transports holidaymakers to another world – the sister islands of Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman – ideal for day trips or even for a week.

In creating Cayman Concierge, The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism recognises that so much choice can be overwhelming, and the provision of first hand knowledge is gold dust when it comes to putting together the perfect holiday itinerary.

Don McDougall, who runs the Department of Tourism in the UK & Europe came up with the idea for Cayman Concierge.

He explained: “Cayman Concierge will be an invaluable resource – effectively it is The Little Black Book for visitors.

“The Cayman Islands are ideally suited to the independent traveller, but even those with the most adventurous spirit may still appreciate a guiding hand.

“For a relatively small country the Cayman islands has enough to keep even the most active visitor busy, morning, afternoon and evening for at least a fortnight.

“However, sometimes the best experiences can also be the best kept secrets which is why we are offering this new service – Cayman Concierge.”

Cayman Concierge can be contacted by email seven days a week on [email protected] and during office hours on 020 7491 7771.
