Delta.com Offers Customers More Time to Check in Online


Delta Air Lines SkyMiles members now can take advantage of Deltaå‘s self-service online check-in product at delta.com

between 24 hours and 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure for all United States-operated Delta, Delta Connection, Delta Express and Delta Shuttle flights. Previously, delta.com check-in was available up to six hours prior to departure.


“We value our customers’ time and expanding the online check-in window to 24-hours is just one of the many solutions we offer to demonstrate this principal,” said Steve Scheper, Delta’s managing director of Online Sales and Service.  “With this highly successful launch, our customers told us that they know a boarding pass in hand means one less line when they arrive at the airport - they save time and have more control of their travel experience.”


With this convenient delta.com product, SkyMiles members save time by checking in and printing boarding passes when and where it is suitable for them: at home or at the office - right from their personal computer. Once at the airport, customers proceed directly to security with their photo identification and printed boarding pass, bypassing ticket counter lines entirely.


“We are committed to making our customers’ travel experience as smooth as possible,” said Scheper. “Enhancements to products like Online Check-In at delta.com are an important part of that goal.”

In addition to Online Check-in at delta.com, Delta customers may choose from a variety of other check-in options including more than 440 self-service airport kiosks in 81 U.S. cities, Delta Direct airport lobby telephones and agent check-in at ticket counters and curbside. Customers needing to check baggage can do so through self-service kiosks, at curbside, or at the ticket counter at least 30 minutes prior to departure.


Delta.com puts customers in control with services and information that reduce the “hassle factor” in their travel experience - from desktop to destination. The award-winning site offers customers booking and air travel management services, low fares, and critical travel information. Customers can choose or change a seat assignment at delta.com, view estimated airport wait times, and sign-up to receive flight status notifications via e-mail or mobile device. Along with 24 hour advance Online Check-in, SkyMiles members can manage their SkyMiles account and redeem frequent flier miles. Waitlisting and confirmation of upgrades are available online to Medallion members.
