Choice Hotels International Offers Miles

Silver Spring, MD (August 28, 2002) - Choice Hotels International (NYSE:CHH) announced today the formation of a marketing relationship with United Airlines, whereby guests at more than 3,300 domestic Choice brand hotels can earn airline miles through United`s frequent flyer program, Mileage Plus.


Guests at all Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Quality, Sleep Inn, Clarion and MainStay Suites brand hotels in the U.S. and Caribbean earn 250 miles per eligible stay, and guests at all Econo Lodge and Rodeway Inn brand hotels in the U.S. earn 150 miles per eligible stay. To earn miles, a guest must stay at an eligible rate and provide a Mileage Plus number at check-in.*

Members of Choice Privileges, Choice`s frequent traveler program for its midscale hotel brands, may choose to earn either points toward free lodging or 250 Mileage Plus miles per stay at any Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Quality, Sleep Inn and Clarion brand hotel in the U.S. and Caribbean. As an additional bonus, Choice Privileges members may redeem 5,000 Choice Privileges points for 1,000 Mileage Plus miles.*


EA$Y CHOICE is a frequent traveler program targeting guests at Choice`s Econo Lodge and Rodeway Inn brand hotels in the U.S. Guests at these hotels may choose to earn either stamps toward free lodging or 150 Mileage Plus miles per stay.*

United joins American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Northwest Airlines and US Airways in offering miles to guests at Choice brand hotels. United Airlines offers more than 1,900 flights a day on a route network that spans the globe. United`s frequent flier program Mileage Plus, with more than 40 million enrolled members, has been named the best frequent flyer program by Business Traveler International magazine in 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001.
